hitting the road! any suggestions?

Come Saturday morning i’ll be hitting the road with a couple of friends for a good old fashion american road trip. We’ll be on the road for about two weeks, starting here in New York City and ending our trip in Austin, Texas.

We have a vague  route mapped out, based mostly on barbecue spots we want to stop at. I also have a couple of more “architecture” points i’d like to try and hit along the way but i was hoping i could call upon all my followers and the whole tumblr network to maybe make a few more suggestions.
